IT Requirements

The format for registrations is via a database known as IUCLID 5 (International Uniform Chemical Information Database). Whilst some companies may manufacture or import relatively small volumes, and hence be affected by REACH in the longer term it is worth noting that a basic understanding of how to operate IUCLID 5 will be essential to complete each substance registration.

If you are planning to act as Lead Registrant for any substances you manufacture or import or you are intending to carry out your own registrations, you will need to attend a course on how IUCLID 5 works. The database can be downloaded free from the IUCLID 5 download website using the address at the bottom of the page.  The European Chemical Trade bodies such as CEFIC or the CIA in the UK run training sessions.
