Forms of Solvent
As we have already mentioned, solvents can be classed as either organic or inorganic materials.
Water, being made of hydrogen and oxygen, is classed as an inorganic solvent. Organic solvents are classified by their chemical structure, of which there are three main types. These are:
Hydrocarbon Solvents: Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons
Oxygenated Solvents: Alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, glycol ethers, esters, & glycol ether esters
Halogenated Solvents: Chlorinated & brominated hydrocarbons
